New Release: Springbank 2007-2015 7yo Official? Local Barley #156

What will this sulphury character become in the future?
Springbank SPRINGBANK 2007-2015 7yo OB? LOCAL BARLEY #156 57.1% First Fill Sherry Butt
The nose is strong with good sherry, berry jam, bitter chocolate-covered orange, ripe plums, black sugar, moderate woodiness, toasted barley, herbs, meaty, and a creamy texture when drinking. It gradually becomes tingling with caramelized nuts, apricot jam or marmalade, very strong but flat sweet flavor, good astringency to add depth, rustic and strong barley character, meaty with sulphuric elements, rich and thick, long sweet finish.
[Good/Very Good]
This Springbank 2007, 7-year-old local barley was released on the open day of this year's Campbeltown Festival and could be purchased at the Kaiden Shop. This time, two types were released simultaneously, this one being a first-fill sherry butt.
Compared to the bourbon barrel version introduced previously, this one strongly reflects the influence of the cask (sherry), and I could clearly feel the sulphuric elements such as sulfur. However, the barley character was assertively present from beneath that.
This type of sulphuric character gives me the impression that it will become more complex as it develops in the bottle, and I feel that the currently flat strong sweetness may evolve into a deeper sweet flavor.
I expect that the barley character will remain while becoming more refined, and that it will become a delicious sherry-style malt with an integrated sense of unity.
