Springbank SPRINGBANK 2007-2017 9yo OB for SPRINGBANK SOCIETY 57.1% one of 1125 bottles, Fresh Sauternes Hogsheads The aroma features sweet flavor tea, strong malt, apricot jam, tree sap, oil, cinnamon, briny seaweed scent, some earthiness, and peat from the back. When drinking, it gradually expands with a rich sweetness of apricot jam, strong oak and its tannins, slight bitterness, oil, saltiness, and a long-lasting peat. 【Good/Very Good】 There is an official fan club called Springbank Society, which requires a paid membership. This bottling was created for members, using 2007 vintage aged for 9 years with Sauternes Hogsheads. While it's unclear if it truly represents Sauternes, the strong cask character is sufficiently robust to mask any youthful qualities. As expected from Springbank, the original spirit's briny notes, peat, and saltiness are clearly perceptible, despite some slight bitterness from the tannins. Regarding this Society, I am a member myself. However, as expected from Springbank, responses to emails are rare, and purchases can only be made at the Cadenhead shop, making it difficult for overseas members to acquire bottles.
