On the palate, it has a spicy kick, fresh citrus, vanilla, young barley notes, syrupy sweetness, sea breeze, and strong peat. [Good/Very Good] This is an official bottling for THE WHISKY HOOP, KILCHOMAN 2009 aged for 5 years. It was bottled in a bourbon cask and released in August as part of a set with a sherry finished version. While it lacks the complexity typical of younger malts, it doesn't show harshness or roughness, with notes of citrus fruits, barley, strong peat, and bourbon-style vanilla cask characteristics. It is well-crafted in its own right. Although it's aged for 5 years, which is typical for KILCHOMAN, the Hoop selection impressed with its quality. The peat masks youthfulness without feeling forced, which was a positive impression.
