This is quite a well-rounded whisky. KILCHOMAN 2009-2015 5yo OB for WHISKY LIVE TOKYO 2015 #431/2009 59.5% SHERRY BUTT The aroma features sweet sherry, dates, strong smoke, iodine, chocolate, toasted barley, a smooth mouthfeel with pronounced sherry characteristics, intense jam sweetness, orange with chocolate glaze, umami from seafood stock, peaty smokiness, and a long, robust finish. 【Good/Very Good】 This is a single cask KILCHOMAN 2009, matured for five years and bottled specifically for the WHISKY LIVE TOKYO 2015 whisky live party. The sherry influence is well-defined, and although the maturation period isn't exceptionally long, the sherry cask characteristics are clearly present. While not entirely cohesive, the strong barley and peat notes harmonize with the sherry character, making this a delicious sherried Islay malt. Although the style differs, recent KILCHOMAN releases have shown increasing quality, as noted at the Islay Festival. This sherry cask whisky is already impressive on its own, and with further aging, it might become even more integrated and flavorful.
