Caol Ila CAOL ILA 2010-2017 6yo Douglas Laing Provenance for Feis Ile 2017 50.6%
Bottle #カリラ(CAOL ILA)
It was a stable fresh Caol Ila. Caol Ila CAOL ILA 2010-2017 6yo Douglas Laing Provenance for Feis Ile 2017 50.6% The aroma has fresh lemon and vanilla, young malt, grass, and a strong sharp peat with transparency. When drinking it, there is fresh citrus and vanilla, young leaves, a clean sweetness and acidity, youthful malty umami, sharp strong peat with a faint metallic touch, light dashi-like umami, and the aftertaste is not long but surprisingly clear and clean. [Good/Very Good] This bottle was released for this year's Feis Ile, part of Douglas Laing's Provenance series, Caol Ila 2010, aged for six years. Although it's a very short maturation period, the roughness or immaturity is not as much as expected, either due to dilution or low alcohol content. It's a single malt that can be enjoyed as a fresh and peaty Islay whisky. Despite the lack of obvious cask influence, it's quite well-finished. There is a fresh citrusy fruitiness, strong peat with dashi-like qualities, and the typical Islay malt character is prominent. However, especially the sharp clean nuances that are characteristic of Caol Ila were noticeable, which makes it enjoyable as a single malt. This dram was enjoyed at Oudou in Sagamihara. #Caol Ila (CAOL ILA)
