Yamazaki YAMAZAKI OB for IBA MEETING 2016 TOKYO 48%
Bottle #山崎(YAMAZAKI)
A luxurious malt aroma from Suntory. Yamazaki YAMAZAKI OB for IBA MEETING 2016 TOKYO 48% The nose features refined woody notes with sandalwood-like qualities, apricot jam, orange with chocolate coating, cinnamon, dry nuts, walnuts drizzled with maple syrup, and herbs like celery. The palate begins with a smooth mouthfeel, expanding into Mizunara-like yet refined woody notes, the rich sweetness of apricot jam, tightening woody depth, nuts, and bouquet garni-like herbs. The finish is long, refined, and pleasant. 【Very Good】 This non-sale Yamazaki was distributed to attendees at last year's IBA (International Bartenders Association) World Championship in Tokyo. A remarkable malt whisky crafted using Suntory's high-quality base spirit and blending techniques. Though bottled in a small size, its aroma suggests it would command an exorbitant price if released commercially. The central characteristic is the distinctiveness of Mizunara casks, which Suntory's expertise clearly showcases. While preserving this uniqueness, other cask characteristics have also developed harmoniously. The diverse concentrated fruits (jam-like), spices, herbs, and rich woody notes blend seamlessly, creating a matured, composed, and refined profile with a strong sense of cohesion. Notably, the Mizunara character was present without excess, suggesting the use of exceptionally aged casks. A Yamazaki worthy of a world championship. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to taste it. #Yamazaki (YAMAZAKI)
