Surely a Sherried cask from Mr. Couvreur.
Very Sherried Single Malts' 21yo Michel Couvreur 45%
A rich and strong sherry, prunes, coffee, herbal liqueur, pecan nuts, powerful and rich cask character. Smooth with a slightly flat sweetness reminiscent of sham, followed by astringent bitterness and a hint of herbs or faint perfume. The finish is long.
【Very Good】
Bottled by Mr. Michel Couvreur, this Very Sherried Single Malt was aged for 21 years.
There was also a 15-year-old Sherried Single Malt, but this one seems to be an enhanced version with a stronger sherry character.
As expected from Mr. Michel Couvreur, this is a malt where the influence of sherry casks dominates, and its sherry character is unique.
It's a bit smooth with some flat sweetness but doesn't feel cloying due to the tightening bitterness.
The original spirit's character is faint, and almost everything comes from the sherry cask influence. However, this isn't over-oxidized; it's a well-balanced malt.
It has a unique and diverse aroma, making the tasting experience enjoyable as well.
This bottle was received at the 'Whisky Lovers Nagoya 2018 Pre-Tasting' event held by Mr. IAN at Mitsukoshi-Mae.
