New Release: Springbank 21 Year Old Official Italian Edition 49.2%

#スプリングバンク(SPRINGBANK)
Compared to the same specification UK version, this has relatively more sulfuric elements. Springbank SPRINGBANK 21yo OB for Italy 49.2% One of 690 bottles, Oloroso Sherry Butt The aroma features orange marmalade, faintly overripe strawberry, a refined sweetness, strong barley notes, nuts, butterscotch, subtle peat, and richness. On the palate, it's slightly spicy with a chewy barley texture, gradually revealing recent sherry influences and mild sulfuric elements reminiscent of gunpowder. There's also a delicate honey sweetness, a tightening oak bitterness, and a pronounced saline note. The peaty finish lingers long. [Good] This is the official bottling of Springbank 21 Year Old, released as a single cask for multiple markets starting this year. This Italian edition shares the same sherry butt specification as the UK version we previously introduced. Like the UK version, it's a 21-year-old single cask bottling from an unusually high outturn of 690 bottles, suggesting there may have been reblending before bottling. Regarding the core characteristics, it retains the approachable sherry cask profile typical of Springbank, with similar nuances to the UK version. Both share a lack of briny or peaty intensity. However, this Italian edition has a slightly younger, more pronounced barley character with some cask influence still present. The sulfuric elements are notably more prominent here. That said, this is a bank with good aging potential. Over time, the sulfuric notes should mellow into deeper flavors, creating a more cohesive profile. In fact, it's possible this could surpass even some currently available bottles in terms of drinkability with further maturation.
