Springbank 25 Year Old Official Bottling 43% ABV circa 1980

Springbank Springbank 25yo OB (Official Bottling) 43% ABV circa 1980 bottling
Bottle #スプリングバンク(SPRINGBANK)
A rare original spirit from the 1950s. Springbank Springbank 25yo OB 43% ABV circa 1980 bottling The aroma has an old-world feel but is also elegant, with notes of freeze-dried underripe strawberries and lemons, white flowers, dried grass, and aged peat. When tasted, it has a dusty old-world character, floral notes reminiscent of violets, a muted lemon, a smooth sweetness and acidity, with lingering smoky straw and earthy peat. [Good/Very Good] The official Springbank 25 Year Old in a paired-shaped bottle. As it is bottled circa 1980, the original spirit would date back to the 1950s. Although aged for a long time, it is believed to have been matured in relatively plain casks, with the cask character not prominently displayed. Given that over 35 years have passed since bottling, it naturally exhibits an old-world character and a sense of lightness in its body. Alongside this, faintly perfumed elements can also be sensed. However, the Springbank signature elegant aroma is clearly present, and as expected from a 1950s original spirit, the aged peat carries a deep earthy character that evokes a sense of the land from its depths. Considering the lightness in the finish, it is easy to imagine that this was an exceptionally rich whisky. Carefully contemplating such whiskies is crucial for deepening one's appreciation, and I am grateful for the opportunity to encounter it.
