New Release: GlenDavon (Macduff) 30 Year Old Official
Bottle #マクダフ(MACDUFF)
A highly matured official long-aged malt.
GlenDavon (Macduff) GLENDEVERON(MACDUFF) 30yo OB 40%
The aroma has a strong, estery maturity with an intoxicating feel, featuring pear, excellent black tea, cinnamon, and chocolate-covered dry orange. When tasted, it has a strong sense of maturity, with a concentrated feel despite its alcohol strength, a slightly chewy texture, sweetness of orange marmalade, mild barley umami, and woodiness without harsh tannins. Notes of cinnamon and a rich finish.
【Good/Very Good】
The Macduff 30 Year Old labeled as GlenDavon is a recently released official bottling. From the first aroma, a strong estery maturity is felt, with fruits like pears asserting themselves clearly. It also shows components that seem to originate from sherry casks, such as chocolate, in a balanced way. It had an impression similar to Duncan Taylor's strength reduction, but as a 40% water-added bottling, it has a surprisingly concentrated and chewy texture, retaining the barley umami. The woodiness that often comes with over-aging wasn't excessive but rather contributed to a richness and body. The aroma combines maturity, diversity from multiple cask types, and depth—truly the essence of an official long-aged vatted malt. Notably, among similar long-aged vatted malts, Diageo rarely releases bottles with such estery maturity akin to this bottler's style. It also highlights how the cask selection policies for official bottling can vary significantly depending on the owner.
