Glenord GLENORD OB 30 Year Old 58.7% bottled in 2005
Bottle #グレンオード(GLENORD)
A remarkable malt where deep barley notes and matured fruity characteristics are beautifully blended. Glenord GLENORD OB 30 Year Old 58.7% bottled in 2005 ・Aroma: An excellent aroma with a sense of maturity, apricot jam, orange marmalade, rich plum wine, ripe melon, deep and thick barley notes, black tea, wax, damp earth, pleasant woodiness, a hint of leather, nut cream, extremely complex and rich. ・Flavor: Smooth mouthfeel expanding into a fragrant depth, concentrated apricot tea, plum wine aged in casks, wax, rich and thick barley notes with abundant umami, jam-like fruity sweetness akin to honey, rich woodiness with pleasant tannins, nut cream, a subtle peat note in the background, a rich and complex flavor profile. ・Finish: The deep barley notes and diverse matured fruits linger for a long time. A gentle euphoric sensation remains. ・Adding Water: The fruitiness becomes more pronounced, with wax and honey-like characteristics coming forward. Even with generous dilution, the core barley umami remains intact. ・Overall Evaluation: A highly attractive malt where the rich, diverse fruits with a sense of maturity and deep, thick barley notes are perfectly blended. The strong plum wine-like nuances in the fruitiness left a notable impression. It's well-balanced, akin to high-label bottlings, and stands out as a superior malt overall. [Very Good] This is the official Glenord 30 Year Old bottled in 2005. Although I find it hard to understand, it seems there were leftovers, so I ended up buying a large quantity of the discounted 28 Year Old instead. Unconsciously, I always compare this 30 Year Old to that, and took my time savoring it. Like the 28 Year Old, this is an excellent malt where the deep barley umami characteristic of Glenord's official bottlings and matured concentrated fruits are beautifully blended. Despite the differences, there are clear similarities with legendary bottlings like Samaroli's bouquet. Compared to the 28 Year Old, even though it's only two years apart, the fruits feel more pronounced. However, the strong presence of the barley umami from the original grain was a pleasant surprise, making it a textbook example of a delicious malt whisky. It's a malt that provides immense satisfaction in each sip without causing fatigue, making you want to drink it one after another. Indeed, I love this style. #Glenord (GLENORD)
