Bottle #ブレンデッド・ヴァッテッド(blended or vatted malt)
It immediately evokes the aroma of old Springbank.
Danaverty DANAVERTY 5yo EAGLESOME 43% Circulated in the 1970s
A graceful aroma, a pleasant old-world feel, sweet notes, floral white flowers, slightly refreshing plant-like qualities, a solid dry barley character with a faint old peat.
When tasted, it is elegant and refreshing with citrus and young leaves, a barley character that seeps into the tongue along with umami, a pleasant balance of sweetness and acidity, and a satisfying finish.
[Very Good]
This is a bottle of Danaverty 5 Year Old, labeled as Pure Malt, that circulated in the 1970s.
The bottler Eaglesome shares capital with Springbank and Cadenhead, and it is said that the contents are primarily Springbank.
From the very first aroma, it clearly exhibits the elegant and fruity-floral characteristics of 60-70s Springbank. While it is believed to contain younger spirit, the barley and plant-like qualities have been beautifully mellowed through bottle aging, with a subtle old peat note emerging from the depths.
When tasted, it delivers exactly as imagined from its aroma—reminiscent of the lighter cask influence of old Springbank. The elegance and depth of barley umami intertwine, with a refined balance of sweetness and acidity, making it an exceptionally enjoyable bottle.
Bottles from before the 1970s, which are short-aged and watered down, often have strong acidity or a dry, faded feel, frequently indicating they are past their prime.
While many of these can still be enjoyable, I have become accustomed to approaching them with some caution.
However, this bottle completely caught me off guard despite my preparedness.
The old-world character is only moderately present, with a beautifully mellowed aroma and texture from aging, making it astonishingly well-preserved in condition.
