Bottle #ストラスアイラ(STRATHISLA)
The old character was strong, but it was enjoyable.
Strathisla STRATHISLA 8yo GM 40% Circulated Around 1980
The aroma had an old character, old sherry, plums, apricot tea, slightly damp barley and old peat. The mouthfeel was smooth, with a somewhat strong old character, faint sweetness of apricot jam, the savory flavor of barley with a texture that seeped into the tongue, and a slight bitterness.
【Good/Very Good】
The Strathisla 8 Year Old GM, it was said that the bottle had been circulated around the late 1970s to early 1980s. It had a fairly strong old character, including the hine (a type of peat), and although there was a slight feeling that the body had faded, it was delicious with old sherry notes and gentle sweetness, as well as a moist barley flavor that seeped into the tongue.
The water-added (short-matured) bottle of Strathisla 8 Year Old GM, it seems that the water content is higher compared to long-matured bottles, making it unstable. After bottling, over time, the old character tends to become more pronounced and often becomes watery.
However, in this case, the bottle was impressive because it retained its deliciousness even after fading, possibly due to a rich original content.
