New Release: Bowmore Official Small Batch
Bottle #ボウモア(BOWMORE)
It has a fruity character, but the taste of younger casks from post-2000 is strongly felt.
Bowmore BOWMORE OB SMALL BATCH 40%
The aroma is vibrant and strong, with tropical fruits like passion fruit, orange, a youthful grainy note with a paper-like texture, sharp peat, vanilla, seawater, seaweed dashi. Upon drinking, it has a gentle mouthfeel, strong fruity notes with tropical fruits and paper-like texture similar to the aroma, slightly watery, with a vegetal sensation of barley or green grass. There is an immature feel, and the peat lingers on the finish.

The newly released Bowmore, an official small batch. Although it's called a small batch, there are no mentions of batch numbers or total bottling quantity. It has the vibrant and fruity aroma typical of Bowmore, with a clear sense of tropical fruit nuances. Elements characteristic of Islay malt such as peat and seaweed dashi are strongly present. However, I noticed a notable youthful grainy note and paper-like texture. Additionally, there isn't much complexity, and due to dilution, the nosing was very easy.
When drinking, it has a gentle mouthfeel, and I could clearly sense the tropical notes and peat similar to the aroma. However, a green, grassy quality and paper-like texture were also present, leaving a lingering finish. I also felt a slightly watery thinness.
It gave me the impression of younger casks with added dilution for adjustment. Although there are some shortcomings, I could clearly sense the tropical fruity character typical of Bowmore and the peaty elements characteristic of Islay. Despite its thinness, it's very drinkable, so it might be just right if you want a refreshing, fruity Islay malt during the summer.
Additionally, as mentioned earlier, this bottle seems to make it easy to identify each element during tasting, and I think it would be very suitable for understanding the younger components of recently distilled Bowmore.
