Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1993-2005 12 Year Old Specialty Drinks #2431
Bottle #ラフロイグ(LAPHROAIG)
This is a Bottler's Laphroaig that I love very much.
Laphroaig LAPHROAIG 1993-2005 12 Year Old SPECIALITY DRINKS #2431 55.2%
One of 311 bottles, Bourbon Cask
The aroma features citrus, vanilla, Parmesan cheese, ginkgo, matcha powder, young yet grounded barley and plant-like notes, a dashi-like umami, and smoky peat.
On the palate, it offers grapefruit and its cotton candy, vanilla, savory barley umami, a strongly condensed powdery texture, refined sweetness and acidity, and an oily finish.
[Very Good]
This is a Laphroaig bottled by Specialty Drinks (Whisky Exchange), aged for 12 years from 1993 to 2005.
The aroma showcases a citrusy fruitiness typical of non-first-fill bourbon casks, with strong elements suggesting a condensed powdery flavor profile from ginkgo and powdered matcha.
While it is peaty, the iodine is not overly strong, and overall the cask influence is subtle with clear nuances.
On the palate, it delivers the expected powdery condensation with a rich savory flavor profile. There is no prickliness, possibly due to bottle aging, and the balance of refined sweetness and citrus acidity was well executed.
This is a perfectly matured whisky, embodying the classic aroma profile I expect from Bottler's Laphroaig.
This style is particularly common in the 1993 vintage, and alongside the same vintage's JACK&JACK and Drum Lagrange, it is a memorable single cask.
