Blended Scotch Whisky BLENDED SCOTCH WHISKY 30yo for The Crane, The Bow Bar and Kinko 40%
one of 88 bottles
The aroma gives a strong sense of long aging, with a rich estery and floral fruity scent, including pear, peach, pineapple, orange, vanilla, butter scotch, a subtle and gentle malty note. On the palate, it is quite soft with an estery and richly diverse fruity flavor, with a faint peatiness and a gentle but savory malty character. It has a soft, refined sweetness, with a relatively light body but a rich flavor profile, leaving a fruity and slightly creamy finish.
【Good/Very Good】
This 30-year-old long-aged blended whisky was bottled by The Crane in Ikebukuro, The Bow Bar in Sapporo, and the sake shop Kinko in Kagoshima.
The aroma is very floral with a rich variety of estery fruits, giving a strong sense of long aging. The lingering malty notes in the background were also a pleasant surprise.
When tasted, it has a very soft mouthfeel with a similarly rich and diverse fruity flavor as the aroma. The sweetness is gentle and refined, with subtle savory malty notes and a hint of peatiness.
Overall, it has a concentrated flavor reminiscent of a cask strength whisky with reduced alcohol content, suggesting that very little water was added.
Additionally, despite being a blended whisky, the influence of grain whiskies was not very noticeable.
If blind tasted, it would likely be mistaken for a long-aged malt whisky. While the distillery is difficult to pinpoint, based on its fruity direction, I would guess it resembles a long-aged malt from Duncan Taylor.
Compared to the long-aged, lower alcohol content Duncan Taylor's Longrow, it has a surprisingly effective use of subtle peatiness and malty notes, without the latter part feeling weak. It seems that these characteristics were well complemented through blending.
