When thinking of TUN, previously up to 1401 it strongly featured old sherry cask nuances, with the impression of bottles skillfully marrying recent good bourbon casks. However recently, perhaps due to sherry cask depletion, release pace has slowed and the sherry character has diminished. This bottle follows that trend, with even less sherry character than Batch 1, and bourbon cask nuances completely dominating. That said, among recent releases of this type, it still stands out as particularly delicious. The aroma clearly conveys high-quality cask characteristics, with diverse fruity notes from bourbon casks, along with vanilla and honey, plus floral elements. A well-balanced savory grain character is assertive yet refined. The rich oily components were also appealing. Despite lacking roughness, it possesses youthful vigor and powerful depth with thickness and complexity. A faint peachiness emerges from the skin-on orange, which has grown stronger over time. The balance between honey-like rich sweetness and pleasant tannins from rich oak was exquisite, with sufficient barley umami. Overall, the cask character was exceptional. Even without expected sherry notes, the finish was satisfyingly complete. In terms of completion, it gave a similar impression to special editions of Glenlivet official releases in the same category. Though expensive, it's understandable not to purchase. However, the casks confidently selected by well-funded distilleries are indeed impressive.
